Today our two new sailing boats arrived from Germany :

Bavaria 46 Cruiser and Bavaria 37 Cruiser.

We will continue to proceed with the renewal of our fleet. Thanks to our base manager Armano for the pictures.

We wish our guests relaxing and exciting sailing trips with our two new yachts and…a calm sea and favorable winds!

During the week of collecting warm winter clothing and footwear in Marina Kaštela for refugees and migrants passing through Croatia, we have gathered women’s and children’s clothing and footwear and sent it to the newly opened winter receiving centre for refugees in Slavonski Brod. The clothing will be given to the volunteers and the institutions working with refugees so that it can reach those who desperately need it as quickly as possible.

We are especially grateful to everyone who has participated in this project with their donations. During the past week, a large number of citizens have contacted us. They have given their support to this initiative with their donations and have also volunteered by sorting the clothing. We have received a special donation from Putevi milosti from Dugobab, a Christian association that has provided us with a large quantity of collected clothing already packed in boxes.

Since the need still exists, the action of collecting clothing continues. The next shipment of mostly men’s clothing and blankets, but also women’s and children’s, will be taken to Zagreb to the volunteers working on the border with Slovenia.

Yacht Club Marina Kastela took part in the 71st Vis Regatta, which was held from 16 to 18 October. This year the organizers of the Regatta decidedto separate – for the first time ever – the cruisersfrom the racers, which divided opinions and was met with disapproval from the participants of the Regatta. Out of the ten crews from Kastela, three were from the Yacht Club Marina Kastela (sailing-boats “Marina Kastela”, “Ola” and “Austrija One”), while the remaining seven took part in the racein Bav-Adriasailing-boats.

The crew of “Marina Kastela” – driven by a light southeastern wind – expectedly emerged victorious in the first leg of the Regatta which was sailed on Friday, 16 October. They crossed the finishing line at 12:52:20, while “Austrija One” secured fifth place at 13:34:54.

The second and decisive leg of the 71st Vis Regatta was held on Sunday, 18 October. “Full Pelt”, a sail-boat from the Yacht Club Split, profited from a weak southeastern wind and secured first place at 13:01:55. “Marina Kastela” – which was skippered by Josko Berket – came in third at 13:11:20, while “Ola” came in ninth at 13:44:03.

“Full Pelt” was crowned asthe OPEN class winner, while “Marina Kastela” prevailed in the ORC classdue to the fact thatthe second leg of the Regatta had two parts and thus carried double the points of the first one, which “Marina Kastela” dominated.

Marina Kaštela has for the third consecutive year hosted the “Flota mira” (Peace Fleet) as part of the biggest international socio-pedagogical project in Europe – Mirno more.

The project, which was founded twenty-one years ago, took place from 19 to 25 September. It enables chronically ill, marginalized and disadvantaged children –as well as children with physical and psychological difficulties – to cast off their prejudices towards different social, religious and ethnical groups by sailing the Adriatic Sea together and spending a week of peace.

Bav-Adria Yachting again took part in the project this year with thirteen boats from its fleet. They enabled the partaking in this project of around 30 children and 15 members of the expert team, among which were diabetics, children from the Children’s Home Miljenko& Dobrila, patients from the Rehabilitation Centre Mir(Rudine, Kaštel Novi) and – for the first time –patients from the Institution for the Treatment of Mentally Handicapped Persons Bakovićifrom Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The programme started on 19 September with the gathering of crews that embarked from the Marina Kaštela on a sailing trip across the Adriatic Sea. After the return of the fleet to the Marina, the children took part in different pedagogical programmes, workshops and round tables, as well as entertainment programmes, until 25 September.

Part of the Bav-Adria crew, in cooperation with the Living Ocean organization, carried out a cleaning operation of a beach on the island of Čiovo in order to send a message to the general public about the importance of ecology and the preservation of the sea.

Mrduja 2015

Mrduja-2015

The 84thMrduja Regatta, the oldest onein the central part of the Adriatic Sea, took place on Saturday, 26 September, under the special patronage of the Croatian president Kolinda Grabar Kitarović.

Skipper Mato Arapov from the Yacht Club Labud was the first to complete the 22 nautical miles long route from the base of the Sustipan peninsula to the islet of Mrduja – situated between the islands of Brač and Šolta – and back on the sailing boat Anadora in 4 hours, 27 minutes and 30 seconds.

The record time of 2 hours, 9 minutes and 51 seconds set by the crew of Marina Kaštela in 2013, who came third this year under their skipper Joško Berket, has still not been broken.

Captain Berket said before the Regatta: “We always sail to win and to secure first place. But when taking part in the Mrduja Regatta, the final position is not that important. There are three factors why one should be present at the starting line of this large-scale regatta. Firstly, because you are a participant in an 84 year old story, basically a part of history. Secondly, when you are a favourite this responsibility is even greater. Thirdly, holding the record time of this Regatta is something to be tremendously proud of!”

Various types of cruisers, which were divided into 11 groupsranging from racers to family boats, took part in this unique and oldest regatta – also called “Sea and Boats Festival” – which was organized by the Yacht Club Labud under the motto “Sailing on the Mrduja Reggata is a must!”

President Grabar Kitarović said: “I welcome the tradition of holding the oldest and largest regatta in the Adriatic Sea and one of the oldest in Europe, which contributes to the promotion of Split and the Croatian sport as a whole. Therefore, I am especially pleased to announce that I have accepted to be the patron of this year’s 84thMrduja Regatta. I am convinced that good organization and careful planning by the members of the Yacht Club Labud, to whom I send my warm regards, will contribute to the success of the Regatta.”
