graz-2013-15BavAdria Yachtcharter, Marina Kaštela and Berket family threw their traditional Christmas and New Year party and hosted their clients, business partners, staff members and friends in the Minoriten Hall in Graz.

The main event of the evening was concert of the groups preforming traditional Dalmatian songs, Klapa Podvorje from Kaštel Sućurac and Klapa Graz. The sound of traditional singing and modern pop songs in their klapa versions filled the fascinating baroque-style Minoriten Hall of the Minoriten Cloister adjacent to Mariahilf Church built in 1604. The hall was full up to the last of its 340 seats.

The audience greeted with ovations the performance of Klapa Podvorje. One of its members is Captain Josip Berket. Founded only in 2009, Klapa Podvorje is already well known and is a regular participant at many festivals and Dalmatian traditional music competitions. Although young as a group, they have already won a number of prizes and awards and now their short but rich biography includes this performance in Graz.

For many guests this was the first occasion where they could listen to Klapa Graz, which cultivates the traditional Dalmatian klapa style singing in Austria, from 2008 and so far they have had a number of performances. They are especially proud of their singing at the holy mass at the St. Joseph church in Graz.

This was also the occasion to present the project “Mirno More” (Peace Fleet), the project meant for children of different nationalities from the war affected areas of the former Yugoslavia. The idea of the project is to teach the children and young people how to overcome the mutual prejudices. With time the project grew further involving the children crews of different children from various countries. So, in the last few years it reached a peak with a fleet of 101 ships and more than 900 participants from 20 countries.

Besides the project “Mirno more” (Peace Fleet) Marina Kaštela and BavAdria Yachting are involved in the project “Mala Škola Vareš” (Little School Vareš) which was also presented to our invitees. The aim of this institution is to give foster home to underprivileged, neglected children deprived of proper parental care in order to help them grow and develop and embrace fundamental human and spiritual values.

After two-hour concert the guests enjoyed the partying and Dalmatian gastronomic delicacies and good wine.
